Since there is a lot of fake news misunderstanding out there, this is a good summary of the changes in the Boy Scouts of America organization.
1) The organization is not changing its name. The program for boys 11-17 is changing its name from Boy Scouts to Scouts BSA.
2) Troops will not be co-ed. There will be all boy and all girl troops. These are separate troops, not mixed troops (see cub scouts)
3) Cub Scouts (ages 5-10) will have all boy or all girl dens within the pack. Dens are the age-specific groups within the pack.
4) The Venturing, Sea Scouts and Exploring programs remain all boy, all girl or co-ed
The Boy Scouts of America organization name will continue to be Boy Scouts of America. It is not changing. Reports started circulating on Wednesday, May 2, concerning the update to the Boy Scout program name.
