Some are worried that while the move means a better minimum wage, Amazon-Whole Foods might try to make up those savings elsewhere, either by cutting employees’ hours or changing policies regarding their stock options.

Those increased wages always come at a cost. Companies will cut costs where they can and raise prices when they can't cut costs.

  1. They will cut costs where they can and raise prices when they can't cut costs anyway, so what's the problem? Is the problem that some people may afford to work in a single job and get some nice house maybe or school for their children?

  2. + Tomáš Hluska that's not what will happen. The cost of living will go up and all the gains of a higher wage will be lost. And now, those who were already making more, will not be able to afford as much.
