The kids and I played a partial game last night and my first impression is that the mechanics are similar to Star Wars Risk. Each player secretly chooses the action to perform and makes there move in turn.

The dinos goal is to eliminate three characters by forcing the player to "burn" through their deck. The humans' goal is to activate the three locations, complete their personal achievement, and get a certain number of characters to the helicopter.

The game seems well balanced as it's easy for the dinos to attack, but they have to attack several times to eliminate characters. Players can also "burn" cards to improve their die rolls (necessary to determine success or failer of some actions) or to refill their hand from their discarded (used) action cards.

The Dino "character" has some optional actions they can perform like moving two spaces, attacking twice, or attacking from an adjacent space but those actions are dino specific and can't be used twice in a row.

Humans don't have this action but they do have special action cards they can play that allow them unique opportunities. For example, certain characters may burn a card to allow a player to pick up two discarded cards. Another character can distract a dino, forcing the dino to attack them which may allow another player to safely achieve another goal.

Overall, I think this has great replayability as the map is random(-ish) and the strategies will change based on individual character goals. The number of players (2-5) will make a big difference too. The game is well made with great components. I think it's a great value at $25 considering the Jurassic Park theming and quality of components. The tiles and the border even fit together well, snug but not too tight (unlike the 4th edition of Catan – just saying)
